black painted design of ferns
and maybe a representation of
rivers meandering through on
the interior of the bowl. Slip and
black paint quite worn from the
outside of the bowl.
About 1800 Years old.
The original Indus People are
thought to have left the Indus
Valley around 1300 BCE
Height is 6 cm.
Measures 18.5 cm diameter.
Indus Valley was only discovered for the west in
1921 and excavations didn't begin till 1926 and
never on the scale of Ancient Egypt, even though
they existed at the same point in time, only a
few thousand kilometres apart. Indus have been
found to have been the earliest users of
polychrome paints,
surpassing the Mesopotamians who were thought to
be the first, they now are believed to be the
earliest practitioners of dentistry, were advanced in
town planning, sewerage and water.
