A large interesting  925 sterling silver brooch/pendant from the Norwegian silversmith David Andersen 1843 - 1901  Material: Sterling Silver.  Starting bid: $165.00 David Andersen was a silversmith in Oslo, and like many others he produced items in the 'Dragstil" style. He was also well known for his copies of early Viking artifacts which he reproduced in jewelry and other items. Born in Ostre Toten in1843, he was apprenticed Jacob Tostrup in Christiania (the old name of Oslo) and died in 1901, however the name David Andersen is still in production. The hyphen between the two names was introduced in 1942 This brooch can also be worn as a pendant (see pic 4) and weighs a solid 34 grams You get these brooches/pendants in different sizes. This one is the largest size.   It is marked on the bottom side of the back with Sterling (925) and also has the D- A. mark,  Norway.   On the back top side are the words: 'REPROD-ORIGIN. FROM VIKING PERIOD'.  The pattern is a tri-zoomorphic design of what appears to be faces or masks. I have not cleaned it, just rubbed it over with a cloth. I will let the buyer clean it if desired. Size: 6cms / 2 1/4 inches at its widest point Please look at the pictures as they form part of the description.
