I am selling this unit because it is not a good match to my amplifier. This unit goes best with typical non-romantic, sharp, strong and modern amps, in my opinion. My amp is too smooth, voluminous and rounded in sound, it requires a tack-sharp bright DAC for my tastes.
The unit has just been burned-in, with about 50h listening time. Sovtek tubes take a long time and are very durable - you may prefer to roll your own tubes if you like. By the way, Philips DAC chips are in sockets to they can also be rolled with compatible chips.
Orchid 69SE DAC is a non over-sampling, no digital filter, structured DAC.
This tends to produce most realistic and natural sound.
Orchid 69SE DAC is capable of up to 24b /192KHz digital signal inputs yet remains driving the legendary Philips TDA1541 S2 R2R digital-to-analog output.
Orchid 69SE configured for 16bit output per channel.
The USB input section is in asynchronous operation mode.
There are a total of five independent digital inputs: AES/EBU, BNC, USB, RCA and Toslink.
All digital inputs are independent to each other, only one among them can be active, controlled by push buttons located on the front panel.
The DAC employs tube-buffered outputs, it comes with Sovtek 6922.
Tubes can be used: 6DJ8, 6922 tube families.
This unit is set to 230V input and comes with an Australian power cable.
International buyers may need to buy their own power cable and choose the correct voltage before turning it on!
100V, 115V, 215V, 230V power supply selectable from internal PCB pins setting
