This Mid Century Modern Japanese Pressboard Serving Tray with Vinyl wrapped handles from the 1960’s was a popular design in the 60’s and 70’s.
The pressboard is made from a class of cellulose-based material constructed from several layers (plies) of paper when compressed by using heat and pressure it forms a stiff dense material that becomes quite durable .
The tray is then decorated with a type of transfer paper (decoupage style) in this case varying fruit, including grapes, apples, pineapple etc.
The predominant colour of a dark olive green gives this tray a dark broody feel to it . The vinyl wrapped handles are reminiscent of a wrapped bamboo and is very durable and easy to clean.
The tray is incredibly hardy and can easily be loaded with your favourite glasses and drinks or you could use it as a cheese and charcuterie platter .
This tray would look good on a bar ,table, kitchen bench , serving table . It would be great for a drinks party/dinner party.
The tray would suit a MCM,Dark Academia ,CottageCore ,Farmhouse or rustic interior style in particular .
This tray is in a really good vintage condition , it does have some wear and tear commensurate with its age. There is some scuffing on the underside of the tray , which is not noticeable from the top . There is a tiny amount of missing colour on the right hand side of the tray near the handle ( I have circled it on the photo) however this could be easily covered up with some dark green Paint/texta pen and does not detract from its aesthetic .
There are no major flaws, dents, cracks, scratches or unravelling of the vinyl.
N.B. The listing is for the tray only and not the items it is styled with.
Please refer to all photos and descriptions for an account of the condition of the tray as WE DO NOT ACCEPT RETURNS, EXCHANGES OR CHANGE OF MIND.
