This auction is for a Simpsons Downunder Bartarang , painted by a First Nations People artist from Bush Myths in Northern Territory. I’ve sold most of my Simpsons trading card collection over the years, but never quite been able to let my 2 Bartarangs go (check out my other auction of another Bartarang).
One of only 6 in the world commissioned by Tempo Sports Cards, an official licensee of 20th Century Fox to create Simpson s Downunder Trading Cards in 1997, that offered the Bartarang as the redemption for the rare Bartarang card.
Information I have been given on this piece is as below:
From the six hand painted pieces, 3 Bartarangs were donated to the executives of 20th Century Fox, at head office in USA, one was kept by the owner of Tempo and two were offered to the world market via a rare redemption card with the Tempo Trading Cards - Simpson Down-under Trading Card Series.
Timber framed - measuring 57cm x 24cm x 2cm (22in x 9in x 1in) (acrylic insert, not glass) . This Bartarang also comes with a certificate of authenticity, and the original Bush Myths cardboard box. You'll note the COA mentions this is a Homer Simpson Bartarang - I assume this was a generic reference, as clearly the painting is of Bart!
I think it’s fair to say these are the rarest Simpsons card set collectibles ever produced, rarer than a Lucky Day card.
Item will be posted from the UK; I've set $100 AUD as a postage amount however will provide a specific cost to the winner bidder once I confirm the country/location.
