**Please read the full description below**
This is a copy of the Australian edition of The Narrow Road to the Deep North published by Knopf/Random House (Sydney) in September 2013. It wasn’t published internationally in the UK and US until 2014 and went on to win the Booker Prize that year.
The Australian hardcover had a very small print run and is one of the most difficult Booker-winning titles to find, especially signed. The UK and US editions are relatively common.
This copy is inscribed and signed (“For Jamie, Warm Wishes, Richard Flanagan”) on the half title page in purple ink.
This is NOT the more common commemorative edition published in 2014.
There are some condition issues. I have included photos of defects in the listing, so please take the time to look at those in detail.
The jacket has a small (2mm) closed tear on the upper edge of the rear panel. There are some areas of damp staining on the verso, along the lower and upper edges. These do not show through on the printed side of the jacket.
The head and foot of the spine show some significant pushing, with a 2mm tear at the lower front corner of the binding. There is a crush defect on the upper edge of the rear board. The text block has some mild, uniform toning.
Despite these faults, the book presents extremely well now that I have fitted it with a new, archival mylar dust jacket protector.
I have priced this rare book taking the defects into account and as such, it represents an affordable way to obtain a signed true first edition copy one of the rarer Booker Prize winning titles.
I’ll pack the book well in a sturdy cardboard box with plenty of padding before shipping it. Insured standard shipping will be free for Australian purchasers and a discounted flat rate of $AU30 for international buyers.
