Fenton Glass Compendium 1940 - 2001 All Three Volumes
Established in 1906, the Fenton Art Glass Company of Williamstown, West Virginia, has long produced glassware that fires collectors' passions. The first volume of this three volume set, Fenton Glass Compendium, has over 900 color photographs that capture the vases, pitchers, tidbit trays, candle holders, teacups, console bowls, and more, produced from 1940 to 1970. Many of these coveted items appear in print for the first time. Five years of research went into the text, providing a comprehensive listing of the art glass produced and the decorative motifs employed. Values are included in the captions. The highly desirable glass art wares covered by the second volume were produced between 1970 and 1985. Many, ranging from animal figures to vases, are displayed here in over 1,160 color photographs. Every color, form, and glass decorating motif employed by Fenton during this period is described or displayed. An informative text recounts the production history of the art ware items made during this period (including baskets, bells, eggs, Fairy Lamps, tree rings, and special order items), along with the colors and the decorative treatments used in their creation. Manufacturer's marks used during this period are also discussed. Included as well are values in the captions and in tables. Every glass collector and dealer, ranging from the novice to the most experienced, will welcome this important reference. The third volume of the set covers the years 1985 though 2001. Published in 2003, the third volume has over 1000 dazzling color images that display the beauty and elegance in glassware produced by Fenton. These highly collectible and much sought after wares are from Fenton's General, Connoisseur, and Special Series lines. Along with Christmas and Easter items, here are the popular animals, baskets, bells, bud vases, candy dishes, clocks, fairy lights, lamps, ring holders, trinket boxes, vases, and more in treatments ranging from Carnival to Shell Pink. Decorations added to the glassware lines are also displayed.
