The cabinet is a nice smooth colour and is evenly trimmed with gold leaf detailing around the sides and below the dial. The speaker grille is an unusual gold mesh metal design displaying the Phillips badge in the top right corner. Phillips design language in the 50's made use of clear plastic in many of its radios, and on this model it was used effectively in the area of the dial where the stations are reverse printed on a clear perspex panel against the contrasting maroon background. The knobs too were of a clear plastic moulding with striking gold centre caps. A colour matched back cover was standard . Dimensions are a compact 27cms wide x 13 cms deep x 18 cms high A nice simple design which is nonetheless rugged and dependable. This is a great retro item would make a great kitchen radio or be equally at home in the study or "man cave". CONDITION: This outstanding radio is in superb original condition., It is completely flawless. No scratches, chips or repairs. And All totally original. So too the gold grille and Phillips logo are in perfect undamaged order. The radio retains its original colour matched green back cover which is absolutely perfect and undamaged. OPERATION: This radio has received a total servicing with faulty and underperforming components replaced, and is in great working condition. Not surprising seeing as it is a Phillips. I switched it on prior to listing..... the valves lit up as did the dial lights, and after the normal short warm up time there was sound. Reception is excellent. It has strong volume and sharp clarity. I was able to tune in all stations on the AM spectrum in the Sydney basin with ease, there being no distortion. And it has that lovely warm and mellow tone that valve technology is famous for. Compare that to a modern cheap transistor radio with its characteristic tinny sound to see what its all about. In summary, a great example of this model built by one of the worlds largest and most respected radio companies. It is in outstanding condition for its age, with great Retro lines, and ready to be enjoyed! DON'T MISS IT!! Selling with no reserve at a BARGAIN start price! GOOD LUCK !!
