Profusely and lavishly illustrated in colour and archival black and white, also with maps. The Peramangk Nation's land covered the Mount Lofty Ranges near Adelaide in South Australia from the cool eucalyptus forests of Mt Barker, east to the Murray River, south  to Strathalbyn and north to Gawler.  The Peramangk people lived in this area for thousands of years. These people left a huge artistic legacy of rock art in their rock shelters and sacred places so their culture markers are rich and varied. The splinter group of the Peramangk people known as the Merrimayanna of the Eastern Barossa region were skilled artists who painted vivid motifs in red, yellow, black and white ochres in their 72 rock shelters discovered so far, many of which are illustrated here in this book. The images depict the Dreamtime and their sacred sorcery symbols, their hunting practices and culture. This book examines their cultural items, trade, myths, legends and sorcery practices and illustrates some of their finest art. A fantastically important book in mint condition which is very rare and scarce. Thanks for looking.
