Up for auction is this rare vintage JH Bunnell Triumph straight key. I only use "RARE" because the experts that I checked with aren't familiar with any marked in this way. This is the Triumph model as determined by the slotted nuts on the binding posts and a squared off retaining nut on the lower contact assembly. Looking from the bottom, the lower contact on a Triumph shows a screw head as opposed to a nut on the Standard Steel Lever key. The key has the letter "M" stamped into the lever in the trunnion pivot area which may, or may not, have been added at a later date. Unusual as key experts that I've contacted do not recognize it. This is a beautiful key with a very smooth and easy action
This key has been refurbished to the extent of having all of the metal parts cleaned and hand polished with a very mild polish (Nevr-Dull). All plastic parts have been hand polished with Scratchout (R). The contacts have been burnished. The key has been mounted on a custom wood base. The key has some minor discoloration and the gold wash has been worn off in places. An excellent straight key. I have tested this key with a code practice oscillator and it works great. Very smooth action. It is used and Sold AS IS.
