Item:123390661846eBay Listing Template r1 RARE SIGNED PAIR 3 1/2" HINGES: GREENWOOD, CINCINNATI, OHIO CIRCA 1850 (3212) Wonderful matched pair of Miles Greenwood hinges, 3 1/2" X 3 1/2" heavy iron hinges, circa 1840-1860. Greenwood had an early foundry in Cincinnati and made the pontoon anchors for the boats used by the John Fremont Expedition in the early 1800's. I believe the foundry was also involved in the castings of the cannons used by General Grant's western armies during the Civil War. He was the premier hinge manufacturer on the Western Frontier along the Ohio River in the early and mid 1800's. While a few of these old hinges show some light pitting where they were exposed to weather, everyone one of them is fully functional and in excellent working condition. Old homes and barns in this area are often found with Greenwood hinges. We have bead blasted this pair and the Greenwood signature is readily visible. Wonderful condition, they can be used again for another 180 years! Cast steel, ready for your project! We will ship via Boxed USPS Priority Mail within the USA.
