KING TUT: Tutankhamun, often referred to as King Tut, was an ancient Egyptian pharaoh who ruled during the 18th dynasty, around 1332–1323 BCE, in the New Kingdom period. He ascended to the throne at a young age, likely around nine or ten years old, following the death of his father, Akhenaten. Tutankhamun is perhaps best known for the discovery of his nearly intact tomb in the Valley of the Kings by archaeologist Howard Carter in 1922, one of the most significant archaeological finds of the 20th century. Despite his relatively short reign, Tutankhamun is remembered for his efforts to restore traditional religious practices and for his burial treasures, which provided valuable insights into ancient Egyptian art, culture, and daily life. Tutankhamun's reign marked a transitional period in Egyptian history, as the country shifted away from the religious reforms of his predecessor, Akhenaten, back to the traditional pantheon of gods. Though his reign was brief and his accomplishments modest compared to other pharaohs, Tutankhamun's legacy endures as one of the most famous and iconic figures of ancient Egypt. its discovery in 1912, the portrait has immortalized Nefertiti as the symbol of ideal feminine beauty.
