K95 Japanese sword wakizashi in handachi mountings, full polish, mint
This is a Japanese sword wakizashi in handachi mountings. The blade is unsigned, shinogi-zukuri shape, Edo period ca.1750 era made blade. The blade is in old full polish, no rust, no stain and in mint condition. The temper line is wavy gunome temper pattern throughout the blade and has deep temper at the point. The forging grain is tight itame-hada, no openings, no openings, no blister and no forging flaws at all. There is no bend, no nick, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. The scabbard is aogai-chirashi finish urushi lacquered wood scabbard with matched handachi fittings, no dents, no crack and in good condition. The handle is tight fit with wave matched shakudo fuchi/kashira, tsukaito wrapping is no cut, no loose and in good condition. Tsuba is marugata shape mushroom motif engraved iron tsuba signed "Shoami 正阿弥" with nice patina. It measures 21" cutting edge, 1+3/4" width, 6 mm thickness at the notch and 30+1/2" in mountings.
