RARE & APPEALING 1960s LOOPING SWITZERLAND WALNUT GILT-BRASS  DWARF 8-DAY GRANDFATHER CLOCK WITH ALARM This handsome clock is from my personal collection of vintage and antique timepieces curated since the early 1970s.  Yes; that's Doug nearly 50 years ago gracing the cover of our local newspaper.  The caliber of cabinetry, metalworking, finishing and detail is nothing short of phenomenal.  The case is precisely machined with flawless joinery.  Evidencing quality, even the unseen interior of the case (with space to stash?) is fully gilded.  A beveled crystal covers the large matte linen finished dial with crisply screened Roman numerals marked "Looping" "15 Jewel Lever" "8 Day Antimagnetic" and "Swiss."  Hour and minute hands are pierced gilt-brass.  Underneath the hands is the alarm pointer. Looping's caliber 51 is the highest grade (and most costly) mechanical alarm offered during the 1960s through the mid-1970s.  Post WWII, Looping along with Swiss competitors Angelus, Imhof and Luxor manufactured the best quality jeweled lever alarm, desk and shelf clocks. This 10.25 inch high timepiece displays impressively and holds accurate time.  The alarm is functional.       NOTE:  The movement has been critically examined and run for months.  However, I did not overhaul the clock and cannot guarantee ongoing operation.
