This is a very rare gothic Flemish brass holy water pail from the second half of the 15th century. It is in very good condition with no repairs or losses, and it retains its original wrought iron handle. It measures 5 2/8" x 2.5" in width. In centimeters 13 cm x 6.5 cm. These magical little objects are exceedingly rare and were used in homes as can be seen in one of the photos that I have posted. For reference, please consult "Seven centuries of holy water pails and holy water fonts and in bronze brass and pewter" by Antoon and Torkild Malfait. Related example can also be seen in Christie's sale 2684 lot number 263. Please do not hesitate to ask questions.
