Around 1947 he completed his study tour. He goes to California, United States, where he joins the Art Institute of Los Angeles. In parallel visit museums and galleries. In January of 1948 organizes its first exhibition abroad, carried out in Hall of Arts of Beverly Hills in Los Angeles. During this period travels through Chicago and then New York. That year he travels to Europe; Its itinerary includes France, Italy, Switzerland and England. As a result he makes contact with the work of Henry Moore, Jean Arp, Lipchitz, Brancusi, Umberto Boccioni, Henry Laurens, Ossip Zadkine. Artists that impact on the young Knop and whom he honors in his later production. In 1956 begins its successful participation in halls, obtaining numerous prizes at national and municipal level. In 1959 he participated in the 5th St Paul Biennial exhibition and since then, the success achieved at the local level has been accompanied by the many exhibitions held in the international arena. The samples in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Rome ( 1966) stand out; Dusseldorf ( 1977 ); Los Angeles and Palm Spring ( 1981 ); New York ( 1986 ), San Pablo and Los Angeles ( 1989 ). During this period his work acquires maturity, while he begins to experiment with the technique of direct wax obtaining textured surfaces similar to welds that give him a strong expressive feature. In parallel to his personal production and small modeling, the artist receives private and public commissions for which he works on large sculptures and murals. Around 1967, the architect Mario R. Álvarez summoned him to participate in a closed competition for the creation of a work to be located in the Centro Cultural San Martín. Together with the artist are Libero Badii and Enio Iommi; The Bronze Knop Reclining Figure is chosen. Among the monuments of great magnitude can be remembered the piece Los tres soles temporarily located in Recoleta in 1984 and then installed in Maryland, United States; As well as Seated Figure (Reminiscence of Michelangelo) located in the front of a private building in 1970 . To these are added the numerous murals in which he experimented with various materials and techniques such as casting in bronze, draft and reliefs in wood and cement work. The year 1970 opens a new stage of flowering in his career, this coincides with the opening of his workshop in the neighborhood of Parque Patricios, a space where today the Naum Knop Foundation works. At this time he continues to discuss characteristic themes in his production and other novelties as American Figure of 1972 . During the whole decade, the work on wood is especially important, especially the assemblies of small pieces very polished and smooth that form reliefs or figures of great and sinuous volumes. Around 1988 the artist opens the Naum Knop Museum in the Salons of the Serra Lima company. It will have continuity until the end of its life. Naum Knop died in Buenos Aires in 1993 . Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1917-1993 Escultor. BIOGRAPHY OF THE ARTIST   KNOP, NAUM (1917-1993) Naum Knop was born in Bs. As. In 1917. Established in 1918, it was the city's first independent professional school of art.[citation needed] The main campus is located in the former IBM Aerospace Headquarters at 9045 Lincoln Boulevard in Westchester, Los Angeles. The school's programs, accredited by WASC and National Association of Schools of Art and Design, include four-year BFA degrees in illustration, fine arts, graphic design, architecture, landscape design, interior design, fashion design, digital media, toy design, and product design. It also offers MFA degrees in fine arts, graphic design, public practice, and writing. Undergraduate students choose a major in their second year, after completing a battery of traditional drawing, painting, composition, and construction classes in their first or "Foundation" year. In addition to studio work, standard liberal arts courses are required, although traditional history courses are replaced by art history. The movie Art School Confidential was partially filmed at Otis. Otis Foundation Professor Gary Geraths worked as a consultant on the film. The current Otis College main campus (since Spring 1997) is located in the Westchester area of Los Angeles, close to the Los Angeles International Airport. The main building (built in 1963) was designed by architect Eliot Noyes for IBM and is famous for its computer "punched card" style windows.[1] The building was extensively remodeled in 1997 by the college when it moved from its original location across the street from MacArthur Park near downtown Los Angeles.[2] The Galef Center, made for the Fine Arts department, was designed by Fredrick Fisher and built in 2001. A ceramics school was begun by Peter Voulkos at Otis in the 1950s and was part of art movements like the Craft-to-Art movement, also known as the American Clay Revolution,[3] which influenced the Ferus Gallery scene of the 1960s. Many prominent artists associated with Southern California’s Light and Space movement were involved with the school, as well as leaders of the conceptual art world of the 1970s. Moreover, Otis nurtured significant Latino artists, and the mural group Los Four also originated at Otis in the 1970s. The school was originally named Otis Art Institute. From 1978 until 1991, it was affiliated with New York's Parsons School of Design and known as Otis-Parsons (full name: Otis Art Institute of Parsons School of Design, A Division of the New School for Social Research). This affiliation allowed students to spend a semester or more at the Parsons schools in New York and Paris. In 1991, it became independent and known as Otis College of Art and Design. Today it is one of the most culturally diverse private schools of art and design in the country.[4] Rankings and reputation[edit] The Economist ranked Otis College of Art and Design 6th among national universities in its 2015 ranking of the U.S. best colleges for 'Value of Education'[5] based on sophisticated evaluation method and by alumni earnings above expectation.[6] List of America's Best Colleges BFA programs[edit] Otis is well known for its BFA degrees offered in fashion design. Under the direction of Rosemary Brantley, this program is considered one of the top fashion design programs of its kind in the U.S.[7] Otis Fashion Design is housed at the California Market Center in downtown Los Angeles. Students benefit from working closely with design mentors and are trained in all aspects of the design process while emulating a fashion design studio, and following the industry’s seasonal schedule. Visiting critics have included designers such as Bob Mackie, Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein, Vera Wang, Diane von Fürstenberg, Isabel Toledo, Isaac Mizrahi, and Todd Oldham.[8] Major designers such as Eduardo Lucero and Rick Owens are alumni of the program.
