Take a trip of discovery! What David has to say...Roland Champion Special Club 2007As a wine befitting the ‘Special Club’ label, all the fruit undergoes vigorous selection from only their very best plots, with the vines on average being between 40-45 years old. This release is lively, mineral scented, with white floral notes and hints of citrus. At present it is still understated, with a long potential future to look forward to. This coquette is youthful and teasing at just what lies ahead. 94pts – David Donald Nomine-Renard Special Club 2009A mere 2000 bottles were produced of the 2009 Special Club, which consists of a blend of 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir. It is a little restrained on the nose at first, but as it opens up, it teases and tempts as to just what’s waiting within. Oh, it is racy, with wonderful finesse and style from the Chardonnay component while the Pinot Noir has given structure and backbone which should see it develop wonderfully for many years. The wine develops and opens in the glass giving white floral and spice notes with great length and style. Ultra fine on the palate, showing the pedigree that you’d expect from a Special Club release. We were very fortunate in securing the last bottles available! 95pts – David Donald Jose Michel Special Club 2006 This prestige cuvée is a blend of 50% Meunier and 50% Chardonnay from José Michel’s oldest vines which vary in age between 45 to 70 years old. Partially aged in oak casks, the wine shows floral, hazelnut and grilled almond aromas. The palate is rich and full, with fresh baked bread, cashew, and exotic fruit notes. Elegant, complex and very, very fine – This is a great and worthy Special Club release. 96pts – David Donald Salmon Special Club 2009 (debut Club release)Salmon’s debut ‘Special Club’ release is from the excellent 2009 vintage and is a blend of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Meunier. Reflecting the freshness and fruitiness of the year, the wine is very pale in colour with a vibrant, fine mousse. It has lifted white floral aromatics with vanilla bean and brioche notes. The palate is super pristine and fine, showing lovely delineation and great length. Only 3,500 bottles were produced of this commendable first release and is worthy of the ‘Special Club’ designation. Salmon, welcome to the Club. 95pts – David Donald Marc Hebrart Special Club 2009This Special Club release is produced from the oldest vines on the Hébrart estate which vary between 40-50 years old. Its composition is 60% Pinot Noir from Mareuil-sur-Aÿ and 40% Chardonnay from the Grand Cru terroir of Chouilly. Jean-Paul Hébrart summed up the special qualities of the vintage: elegance, amplitude, minerality, purity and extreme persistence. It is perhaps not as delineated as their brilliant effort from 2008, but it is plump, lush and giving sheer pleasure right now and is a worthy, commendable successor. It has depth, weight and power yet still retains elegance and poise. Great effort and another winner from Jean-Paul. 95pts – David Donald Goutorbe Special Club 2004(75% pinot noir and 25% chardonnay, aged on its lees for more than six years): Light, bright gold. Deeply pitched aromas of pear skin, redcurrant and rhubarb, with musky herbal and floral nuances adding complexity. Sappy, penetrating red berry and orchard fruit flavors show excellent depth, with notes of lemon rind and chalky minerals providing lift. A smoky quality comes up with air and carries through the long, powerful finish. Offers an impressive blend of richness and energy.90pts - International Wine Cellar 94pts – David DonaldPrice: $580.00$495.00Additional InformationVintageVariousRegionChampagneAlcohol Vol12 - 14%Volume750mLCase Size6 Bottles PaymentIf paying by bank deposit, please leave your ebay username in the description so that your payment may be readily identified.
