Item:225983443274RARE pair LEGRAS Montjoye RUBINA ruby satin glass MUSSET VASES with POPPIESc1900. (ref L190) PLEASE NOTE for your peace of mind- INSURANCE is already included in the postage costs. On offer today.... A rare pair of Late 19th century (circa 1890 +) RUBINA SATIN GLASS vases by the company of Francois-Theodore Legras, Montjoye, Saint-Denis, Paris. HAND BLOWN GLASS and although these glorious vases are unsigned - as is often the case with Legras items - collectors will recognise them as being by Legras. Apart from having indisputable similarities with many other Legras pieces, there are other important factors that lead me to confidently attribute the vases to LeGras: The shape is "MUSSET"* which is characterised by its paneled pattern that is twisted from the four corners, along with a deep polished pontil under-base, in the typical LeGras style. *The Musset shape was recorded in a 1899 Legras catalogue. Cat #3237. Like many Legras items, these gorgeous ART NOUVEAU vases feature heavily enamelled , hand painted Poppies - a subject extremely popular amongst "La Belle Epoque" society of late 19th Century France. This QUALITY pair of antique, French Art Glass vases are in very FINE condition. NO CRACKS; NO REPAIRS; NO CRIZZLING. Gilding is slightly worn. One vase has a very small chip to the rim. See pics. #23,24. Usual inclusions and striations and bubbles typical of hand-blown glass from this era. DISPLAY BEAUTIFULLY - LOVELY BRIGHT & COLOURFUL GLASS. Measure 25 cm tall x 9 cm wide base. Weigh 575 grams each - before extremely careful packing. Would make a WONDERFUL ADDITION to any GOOD collection of antique French Art Glass. EXCELLENT, and extremely generous ANTIQUE WEDDING anniversary GIFT! Please see many detailed photos for best indication of the condition of this beautiful pair of quality vases. Happy to send further information or photos if needed.
