~ I have put together some information on the 'Fairistytch' company;

‘Fairistytch’ was a company Est. 1919 by T.F. Beckett of Scotland, with some help from close friends. He ran the company until his death in 1950. His son took over the company, but it closed in 1960 due to a fall in demand.

‘Fairistytch’ sold a full range of their traced linen patterns, hot iron transfers, linen, threads and more, for needle/craft-persons to make.

‘Fairistytch’ produced a small catalogue/booklet each Spring and Autumn; this included a colour photo of the finished piece, also details like the name of flowers used, threads recommended, stitches, and what linen to embroider on.

'Fairistytch' were famous for using accurate flower designs from gardens around the UK, and nature; these were then created into stunning tablecloths, centrepieces, sets, panels, cushions etc.

 ‘Fairistytch’ was a very popular brand, and were sold in retail outlets in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. They also had a subsidiary company of shops around the UK, called 'Needlework Shop', which stocked the full range of their designs from their booklets.

~ These finished pieces, and also the booklets are very collectable, and hard to find.

 ~ So I share a little bit of ‘Fairistytch’ history and some of the cloths with you to buy and treasure :)

NOTE; I have now 22 booklets and/or copies; from 1936 to 1954 series 300 to 520 – missing 510 (if anyone has this one I would be interested in obtaining a copy please :)

Does anyone have any booklets for sale? Or any other information on Fairistytch I would be very interested; i.e. were any booklets produced before 1936; as the series starts at 300? Were there any booklets after 1954 series 520? I know the founder T.F. Beckett passed away in 1950, and then his son took over until the company closed in 1960.

I have gathered also that the booklets were not produced during WW2, but when they did start again the series was in sequence. Were patterns produced during WW2 years? I know from reading online that the founder did start to stockpile supplies in the 1930’s, as he felt there would be another war. Also half of his warehouse and workspace was taken over by the ‘War Effort’ - which means the business did continue during WW2.

All very interesting – I love investigating and having facts to share when I sell a special ‘treasure’

FRESHLY WASHED AND PRESSED, READY TO USE

About me :)

I am married to a wonderful man and have two gorgeous children, I work and run this small business ~ so busy :) We live out of town on a few acres, looking out on rolling green hills - Bliss :) I try to post the same day or next day after payment has cleared ~ I don't post on week-ends. I am obsessed with collecting Vintage Textiles and other interesting Treasures ~ this has been a lifelong interest of mine. "I find these gorgeous 'Vintage Linen Treasures', and bring them 'Back to Life' just for you". Embroidery work is such a lost art ~ it is not as common as it was in our Grandmothers days, and to the standard they were taught as part of 'getting ready to run their own homes'. I think about the person who has spent so many hours making such beautiful creations ~ it truly is a lost art. These gorgeous 'Linen Treasures' are getting very hard to find! ~ so I gather them to offer to you :) They are washed and lightly pressed, ready to use in your home, gift or your own collection :)

Enjoy!! :)
