Full body, fine tannins and fresh finisch. I like this as much as 2007. Well done. Drink or hold 92 points James Suckling Good full red. Redcurrant, plum and black tea on the nose, complemented by sexy oak spices. Broad, lush and sweet, showing an almost exotic high-toned quality to the perfumed flavors of balsamic dark cherry and sweet spices. Very sound acidity gives the wine shape and balance. Finishes impressively sweet, broad and horizontal, with creamy ripe tannins and lingering balsamic perfume. 92 points Ian DAgata Appellation: Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita Grape: Sangiovese Density of plants: 4500 plants/ha. Accompanies: wine of great body and elegance. It can be served with all our best dishes of the Tuscan tradition: in particular with roasted meat, game, braised meat and ripe cheeses like Pecorino cheese. Collemattoni is a tiny 7 hectare estate planted exclusively with Sangiovese Grosso vines in San Angelo in Colle, on the southern side of the hill of Montalcino, nestling above the famous and rather larger Col dOrcia vineyards (145 hectares). The first records mentioning the Bucci family in the Parish of Sant’Angelo in Colle date back to 1798 when Giuseppe Bucci, farmer and father of a large family appeared in village records. Today Marcello Bucci, who studied oenology under Signora Fuligni (Roberto Fulignis aunt), manages the estate and is making wonderfully good wines which have rapidly increased both in quality and international recognition. The wines from these vineyards are fuller and riper, though perhaps marginally less fine than, say, Fulignis, but what they lack in finesse is more than compensated for in the pricing, making Collemattoni one of the best value wines of the region. They own 4 vineyards located in different areas around the village of Montalcino: Di Sesta: 3 Ha, Southeast facing, elevation of 350m; La Cava: 1.5 Ha, Southeast facing, elevation of 330m Fontelontano: 0.45 Ha, Southeast facing, elevation of 380m; Di Casa: South/Southwest facing, elevation of 420m Shipping Shipping: Freight - RareWines is able to deliver to the majority of Australian suburbs using various courier companies as well as Australia Post.
