My dear one has shown such rare pluck that I hope to have her home by Easter Day. The doctors say that never before have they seen such courage. Tell Olga I have just remembered I am a member of the Institute of Journalists designed to protect the liberty of the Press and...they don't intend to leave poor Clemmy...undefeated...Yours ever CS" (and) "Saturday...I ought to be with Olga today but must pack up and be off to Holland on Wednesday. I am still lame but....OL! poor dear Poppyland...Yours CS" Clement William Scott (1841 - 1904) "....His perspicuous understanding of performance values as distinct entities which demanded critical analysis of their components remained his enduring achievement in the late Victorian period....Although primarily a theatre critic, Scott was a diverse journalist. (With) a 3-sided letter, also on 15, Woburn Square, W.C. letterhead, signed by Margaret Clement Scott dated May 24th, 1895; Clement Scott's second wife, nee Constance Margaret Brandon, an actress and also a theatre critic, who survived him; this letter with personal news and also enquiring to the health of friend Olga and in the hopes that Miss Clayton will be able to accompany Olga on a coming trip to America. Approx. 4 1/2" x 7" size. Light wear; old fold lines; one line at top of second page obscured by old mount paper, discernible when held to light; in very good condition.
