Baltic Amber:

Baltic amber has been used traditionally throughout the centuries within European medicine. It is a traditional necklace for babies in Europe.

Amber is fossilised tree resin, or sap. When the bark of a tree has been damaged, a tree cut down or an interruption in the integrity of the hard outer bark has occurred, sap leaches out. If left undisturbed, then over time the resin solidifies to a rock like hardness. This resin is used to make amber beads.

Why are they different colours and shapes? 
Amber comes naturally in a range of colours from transparent through the colour spectrum to black and in different sizes and shapes.  All colours work in the same way. You can choose which you think will look best. The choice is purely aesthetic.  Because amber is natural, every product is unique and different. 

How should I clean it?
Just dip in warm water and rub dry with a soft cloth.  Plain water will not harm the amber but washing agents/detergents may so take it off while in the bath or swimming pool.  Do not let your amber come in contact with hot water or a hot radiator.
