Iron straps and solid iron studs reinforce the doors. The back of the doors has a double locking design typical of the 19th century consisting of a solid wood bar and iron hooking latches. They were acquired from the older Hutong area of Beijing. They are approximately 150 years old. The timber is Chinese Cyprus Pine. The doors are handmade. They have a beautiful patina and have not been coated with any product at this time, thus are completely original. The doors dimensions are each 2490 high by 850 wide, the timber planks being 50mm thick. The pictures show the ancient locking mechanisms. The pictures in order are door 1, door 2 and back of door 1, detail of central door (same on both), detail at bottom door (same both), back of door 1, back of door 2 and back of door 1 full length. The doors were purchased by us around 8 to 10 years ago and have remained inside our house. Having relocated, we are now downsizing and no longer have a suitable display position for them. They are a beautiful example of antique Chinese workmanship and are becoming increasingly scarce. They would suit a prominent position where they are easily viewed from both sides preferably in a position where they may be opened and closed. They have pivot points on the top and bottom of both doors to facilitate opening and closing. The pivot points are additional length to the dimensions quoted above. Whilst being far too large to post, local pickup is fine, as would be the arrangement of furniture removal and shipping at the purchaser's expense.Condition:Used, Brand:Unbranded, Type:Entire Door, Material:Wood, Type of Door:Double Door
