Seller: Top-Rated Seller vandalane (2,070) 100%, Location: Northern NSW, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 192787286341 template Antique Persian gem set solid silver case Era: 1890's - 1900 This would have to be one of the finest gem set cases I have had the pleasure of owning and am excited to now offer it for sale. Constructed of solid silver(tested and guaranteed) with parcel-gilt finish and hand chased decoration, various precious gemstones form a stunning display to case front of Diana the Huntress, Goddess of wild animals and the hunt. Natural rubies, sapphires, emeralds and seed pearls glisten amongst the gilded silver and are original to case, set to enhance and complete importance, for only premier cases house fine gems. Normally only commissioned for nobility, the sheer cost of crafting cases such as this is quite exorbitant, the gems alone would hold an impressive price tag. Inside of case features a heavily gilded finish with picture frame like panel, perhaps to house cigarettes or an image of a loved one? Complete with sapphire button and pearl set fold over safety clasp this magnificent case is a once in a lifetime find. In very good condition, details as follows: one small seed pearl and tiny emerald missing to dog slight rub to exterior gilding(particularly to underside of base) minor tarnish in places Width: 3.5" Depth: 2.5" Weight: 138gms *Publications* We received positive review by the highly regarded American Southeastern Antiquing and Collecting Magazine, in the article 'What's selling on Ebay'. Copy provided upon request. My ebay user ID stems from my love of flowers, the Vanda cristata is a species of orchid found in the Himalayas and I see wandering through a Himalayan orchid filled lane as a beautiful vision. Thereupon Vandalane was born. My name is Alison and I am that person who has passion for various areas of antiques. My love started with Australian Colonial furniture which led me to Georgian sterling and jewelery, both offering me unique opportunities that I am ever grateful for, some pieces now housed in world leading Museums and collections. Many people ask me this and my response is that collecting is a hunt, we all love antique fairs and auctions - ebay offers the hunt. You will find me selling a combination of Auction & Buy it now(with offer), if I can secure an item for a good price I will always try and pass on the saving as I firmly believe an item is worth what someone is willing to pay. More so I actually enjoy ebay, all the wonderful people I've come to know through here and the art of listing items - it is a creative process that I thoroughly enjoy. While the internet is a fine source of information I cannot recommend highly enough the importance of actual reference books.
