This delightful sterling silver mesh purse dates back to late Edwardian - early Art Deco period, circa 1916. The framed mesh purse features a fringe which is often reminiscent of the 'flapper' Art Deco era. The shaped frame and kiss lock closure adds extra charm. Attached to top is a solid sterling silver chain. The chain is stamped with the 'lion passant' sterling hallmark and stamped to every alternate link. Visible along frame is a crisp set of English hallmarks, indicating London provenance, dated 1916, makers mark difficult to decipher.
Exuding vintage touch the original patina has been left .... as level of polish is a matter of taste! Purse measures 4" inches x 4" inches, total drop with handle measures 10" inches.
Purse appears to have had little use over the 100 years, the patina has been left and there are no notable pulls to mesh. The kiss lock secures with a firm click. Overall, it is in superb antique condition.
This would make a wonderful gift for someone with an objet d'art fetish, or perhaps to add to your purse collection....
