Win Wood Instrument for Restoration or Repair
This is an antique wood & bone flute, piccolo or fife for restoration. It has two segments. When assembled, it measures 11 3/4" total length. It has 6 lever keys and 6 finger holes. Possibly Civil War Era.
I am unable locate any manufacturer's mark on the instrument or case. I have limited information. One segment has a tight crack on the bone section piece. Its wood case is lined with faded velvet. The case has wear & is missing rings for its hooks to secure lid.
No maker's mark. Missing a metal ring on the bone head joint, which is cracked. No cracks to the body. This instrument will require restoration to be playable. Length from the center of the blow hole to the end is 9 1/2". Bore at the top of the body joint just over .400 in diameter. Its seals will need replaced.(please see all scans for condition)
