The Airbus A330 is a wide-body airliner made by Airbus. In the mid-1970s, Airbus conceived several derivatives of the A300, its first airliner, and developed the A330 twinjet in parallel with the A340 quadjet. In June 1987, Airbus launched both designs with their first orders. The A330-300, the first variant, took its maiden flight in November 1992 and entered service with Air Inter in January 1994. The slightly shorter A330-200 variant followed in 1998. In 2014, Airbus launched the A330neo, re-engined with Trent 7000 turbofans, which entered service in November 2018.

As of December 2019, A330 orders stand at 1,823 of which 1,492 have been delivered and 1,443 remain in operation. The A330 has allowed Airbus to expand its wide-body market share. It competes with the Boeing 767 and smaller variants of the 777 and the 787. It is complemented by the larger Airbus  A350 XWB  which succeeded the A340.

"Virgin Australia" Airlines , commonly referred to as  "Virgin Australia" , is an Australian airline and is one of the largest operating in Australia, and is the largest airline by fleet size to use the Virgin brand. It commenced services on 31 August 2000 as  Virgin Blue,  with two aircraft on a single route.  It suddenly found itself as a major airline in Australia's domestic market after the collapse of " Ansett Australia"  in September 2001. The airline has since grown to directly serve 42 cities in Australia, from hubs in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.

The airline is based in Bowen Hills, Brisbane, Queensland. It was co-founded by British businessman  Richard Branson  (the founder of Virgin Group) and former CEO Brett Godfrey.

In 2011, the airline went through a massive transformation, the changing of its brand to "Virgin Australia".  This included the introduction of a new aircraft livery, new uniforms, and new on-board menu options. Collectors' Hint - What are my choices with Plastic Model purchasing and collecting ?

It is the nature of the Space and Aviation market that Space and Aircraft Model Kits of important space or aviation vehicles tend to be limited in production or alternatively sell very quickly.  Two different examples are the premier Apollo 11 kits or the P-51 Mustang. 

Many model kits are 're-launched' on significant anniversaries.

Typically, the two key choices when purchasing plastic model kits are:

i)   Make the Plastic Model or 

i i) Preserve the Plastic Model 'pristine' in its box and with all original plans and parts for the future.

The former choice i) provides the enjoyment and satisfaction of model making, more so when they are rare or unusual models.
