Item:332848431930Akron Light Co ( SEQR ) 1920's Brass Petrol Hanging / Table Lamp Not Kerosene . This Akron Light Company lamp is in excellent condition considering it was manufactured in the early to middle 1920's. The lamp burns beautifully. Despite the lamp being rated at 300CP I have used a 500CP mantle and the lamp is more than happy with it. I used 20 PSI in the fount and the lamp was very comfortable. I did have trouble with the generator. The generator thread appears a bit worn and wouldn't tighten up as much as one would expect. I used some Loctite No 567 on the thread and it sealed and allowed the lamp to be lit and run. Loctite 567 is a terrific product to use as it is pressure, petrol, oil, etc, resistant. The lamp is interchangeable from a wall lamp to a table lamp. The reflector shield has a slot in it to accommodate the lamp being hung ftom a hook/nail on a post or wall. The lamp will stand and is quite stable even with the reflector attached for wall mount. By altering the reflector from side (wall mount) to base mount the lamp is now a complete table lamp. There are no dents to report. This lamp does not have a pricker designed in it. I have removed the old asbestos packing from the fuel valve and replaced it with modern graphite rope. The fuel/air cap works a treat. The lamp is nearly all chromed plated brass (perhaps nickle?). The reflector shield is steel. So too the nuts that hold the reflector shield on as too is the foot you can see at the base of the lamp when the shield is in the side position. The chimney is brass with steel mesh. The mesh is in perfect order. The lamps chrome is in very good nick - for it's age. It isn't perfect but neither would you be as you get towards 100. The reflector shield's chrome is starting to feel the pinch but isn't terrible. A polish may even help revive / protect the surface. This lamp runs on petrol / Shellite / Coleman Fuel. kerosene / kero etc, are not advisable as the generator is not designed for those fuels. As a general rule: Seals etc, can fail without notice. Make sure they are in good working order before attempting to light not only this lamp but any pressure lamp. The onus is on the user. As with all the lamps I have sold, there are no returns. Not once have I sold a lamp that the buyer has informed me they were unhappy with their purchase. I don't expect that to be the case here either. I list my lamps as honestly as I can and the photos form the remainder of the description. Look at them closely before bidding. If you wish to know anything I haven't detailed - ask. I will post the lamp worldwide. It is probably best to contact me before you bid in an effort for me to get you an exact postage quote. Postage within Australia is $40 regardless where the lamp goes. I do reserve the right to remove this listing.
