Aboriginal Bark painting by Mutpu Arnhem Land, collected 1969
SIZE: 49cm by 31cm DESCRIPTION:
This bark painting was collected in 1969 in Central Arnhem Land and was painted by Mutpu. It depicts Galapin the small fresh water fish living in the swamps. The leaf and white dots indicate the sacred berries and are eaten by the spirit ancestors known as Morkoys.
Mutpu work is in the National Museum of Australia's collection.
This painting is in excellent condition for its age. Very straight and no cracking or pigment loss. Photo of artist not included.
