Seller: 1954mm (393) 100%, Location: Leopold, VIC, Ships to: AU, Item: 163102957540 Excellent condition radio. Acquired by us some years ago from elderly lady who I believe had purchased it new. It is a rare Art Deco 1930's Skyscraper FISK Radiolette by AWA "Empire State" valve radio. Brown bakelite finish. INSPECTION WELCOME. PURCHASER TO PICK UP FROM LEOPOLD (GEELONG) OR BLACKBURN (MELB)OR MAKE FREIGHT ARRANGEMENTS AT EXTRA COST> I believe it is 100% original - grille cloth, dial, chrome trim, knobs, all screws etc. Perfect exterior has no chips or cracks. Good dial which lights up perfectly when switched on. Looks faded in photos but is in great nice shiny bakelite finish. It is in excellent working order with great clarity and volume. I am listening to the Geelong v Richmond game on it as I compose this ad. Size 28 CM HIGH 28 CM WIDE 17 CM DEEP Amalgamated Wireless Australia (A.W.A.) produced a number of Radiolette models over the years in a variety of sizes, designs, and materials. But the one that every radio collector wants is this model that is officially named "The Fisk". Collectors for obvious architectural reasons also refer to this model as “The Skyscraper” or “Empire State”, and it is reputedly the first Bakelite case radio ever produced in Australia. Interesting features on this radio include listings of the Australian and New Zealand radio station call letters around the frequency selector dial, plus a distant and local ("D/L") switch at the rear of the chassis. Condition: Used
