All Slender Weavers are genetically identical (clones) in the world so they are all ultra fast growing and will reach a maximum height of 6-8m within 2-3 years. (Providing you don't start with a stunted plant

Fast-growing and very drought hardy. Will survive hard frosts.

It will grow in full sun or filtered light.

NOTE:  NUMBER OF CULMS IS A MARKETTING CON 

Read this and decide  for yourself and then see if any nurseries can explain why lots of culms the same size in a pot is a good sign (using logic and common sense)

Notice how this is just logic and common sense!

The number of culms is ONLY important IF the culms are all the same size, in which case you have a serious problem and a stunted, rootbound plant. 

The plants we sell have 2-6 culms. depending on how they were propagated and the time of year. 

The most important thing to know about bamboo in a pot is how much taller the newest culm is compared to the last one

. Because ALL bamboo gets taller by putting up taller and taller culms, you shouldn't find any in pots which have more than 2 (maximum) culms the same size.

 If you do then have a look at the root system because I can guarantee it will be rootbound (if you can get it out of the pot and if the nursery will let you look, which they should do, after all the roots are the most important part of the plant. 

. Once they get rootbound they simply cannot support taller culms so each culm that comes up is about the same height as the last. . This is what most nurseries don't tell people. .

 Think about it. If you have a plant which has 4 culms at 25cm, 50cm 1m and 1.5m, have a rough guess how tall the next culm will be? (If you put it in the ground or a larger pot)

 2m? 2.5m? 

Something like that. 

After months of growth it will be 3-4m tall. 

Consider keeping that plant but in the same pot for another 6 months. 

What do you think will happen? 

Will it get to 3-4m tall in a 200mm pot? 

No.

 It will put up another 1.5m culm,

 then another and another and then the culms will get smaller as it runs out of room

 It might look fantastic and big and full of growth (when it's being watered constantly) but try and get it to establish in the ground (if you want to see you money die) 

The ONLY way to get rootbound bamboo to establish is to cut the culms down by 50%, strip most of the branches off to reduce the transpiration rate and then cut off the thick coiled mat of roots at the bottom. 

NEVER buy bamboo in pots which have several culms the same height because you are buying a stunted rootbound plant.

. If you were to take that same plant and put it in the ground then the next shoot would be well in excess of 2m, because the roots would be able to grow out and down.

 It will reach full height in 2 years. 

A stunted rootbound plant will take 6 months to get over the shock of being cut back so much

. The plants we sell will never be rootbound and will put up shoots significantly taller than the 1.5m average height they can happily reach in a 200mm pot

Plants are posted intact with plenty of water for the roots.. I will not send plants bare-rooted
