However, in what can only be described as an extraordinary ERROR, the Royal Australian Mint (RAM) and Australia Post produced this PNC Set with a mismatched $1 coin: "Mutiny on the Bounty" (instead of the "Rum Rebellion" coin). The error was quickly identified (after release), but still a number had found their way into public hands. The Royal Australian Mint (RAM) actually produced a set of three coins that recognised 'Mutiny and Rebellion' in the South Pacific and Australia between 1789 and 1854: * Rum Rebellion * Mutiny on the Bounty * Eureka Stockade The incorrect 'Mutiny on the Bounty' coin was packaged into the 'insert' which depicts the 'Rum Rebellion' scene when Governor William Bligh was arrested by two members of the New South Wales Corps. Postmarked First Day of Issue 13th June 2019, Sydney NSW 2000. This is a GENUINE error PNC and is a super collectable item. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BACKGROUND: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On 26th January 1808, the New South Wales Corps marched from their barracks to Government House to overthrow the Governor, William Bligh: the only time a military coup has ever deposed an Australian Government. Irascible, autocratic Bligh had infuriated the ambitious and elite military by attempting to break the economic stranglehold they held over the fledgling colony.
