1961 Ford Thunderbird. 1961 Thunderbird. The Classic Bulletbird Shape- Its Powered by a 390 Big Block. Goes well with a nice strong motor with a nice note to it. Its Standard beside the 4 Barrell Holley and twin pipes. You can just jump in and drive it- nice and reliable..Its a Column Auto Trans it has all the original factory fitments of, Power Steering,Power Windows ,Power Drivers Seat, Slide-away Steering Column, Factory Air Cond-[not operating at present] Good clean driver quality paint-not perfect but shiny and presentable. Very Good for rust-only very slight bubbling in the removeable panel behind rear window it is more like humidity blisters under the paint which hasnt changed since i bought it nearly 2 years ago. No other rust. Underneath is clean straight and rustfree. In the boot perfect too. The car came from New Mexico so has been in a very dry climate much of its life. Car is straight for its age.It is 57 years old. Black Interior has New Repro Doortrims-old ones were sun damaged. carpets are neat. Drivers seat not ripped or sagged-but stitching has come undone . Passengers front seat perfect. Back seat has mark at top, the hood-lining is perfect. Console lid sun damaged just needs recovering. The Chrome-work is all there and in very good condition. Fitted with. as new 18x8 alloy rims with as new tyres. Pedders lowered Springs at front,lowering blocks on back.Brand new seatbelts front and back.. Just spent $1000 on new brake hoses, pipes and wheel -cylinders all round. Fully Reco Starter Motor in January.. Comes with original wheels,whitewalls and hubcaps, wheel spats for back,original steering wheel and aircleaner too. so it could easily be put back to standard. On Non Transferable club reg at the moment.Had a full Vic RWC only 18 months ago..It has only done 1000 miles since then. Been in Australia since 2004 and has previously been on Full Rego in Vic.Only other jobs i was going to do to it was to put a new seat trim kit in it- available for $700 here in Oz and reco the 9 inch diff(fully rebuilt one is $1000) -it has a bit of a whine in it which varies with speed .Also quarter panel window left side needs adjusting-a simple job. All up this is a Great Ready to use Weekend Cruiser at a Reasonable Price. 61's in excellent condition are $35000-$40000. Check out what else is available for the price that looks like this.
