Vintage Gold Wedderburn Balance Scales Australian Made
A collector's dream, as this scale contains both the weighing bowl and three original weights needed for precise measurements. This scale is a part of Australian history.
The manufacturer, Wedderburn, has been in production since 1896. The founding forefather, Jabez William Wedderburn, officially opened the doors to Wedderburn Scales in Sydney in 1896 at 88 Liverpool Street.
In 1966 the decimal system was introduced to Australia, dating this item to pre-1965. This scale is mostly likely dated around 1940-1950s, as the weights are in pounds.
In good vintage condition. The gold tone is relatively intact, with scratches, marks, and chips—as expected for an item of this age. The bowl is rusted and could use some love.
A collector's dream and overall looks fantastic as a feature piece, as is.
