1920'S Banjo Ukulele 8" Goatskin Head 12 Tension Hooks W/ Bulls Head Case

"Trader-BOB's MUSIC" , OFFERS A 1920's Banjo Ukulele, with it's original case. 8" diameter goatskin head. 12 tension hooks. Closed back resonator. 10 ferruled sound holes around the body. Not sure on the pot wood, the back looks like birch. The neck looks like curly maple. The peghead design is quite common, could be a number of makers, no name anywhere. Someone has refinished this before I got it, looks like it could be varnish. 21-1/2" overall length, 15 frets, 13-1/4" scale length. Tunes up nice CGEA, resonates well. The strings must be fairly new, they are still stretching. The intonation is pretty good, although not perfect. Very well made, and detailed, probably not the basic model in the 1920's. The hardware has the look that silverplate gets as it starts to tarnish. Two of the tension hook nuts do not match the rest of them. This is as I received it, with the exception of the bridge, to get it set to play, with 3/16" string action height at the 12th fret. The trademark stamp on the case, although a little hard to read, is Maulbetsch & Whittemore, established in 1893. This is their trademark used between 1920, and 1928-1929. Google "bulls head" cases. The case is pretty good, tears in the lip around the lid of the case. Two hinges, three latches, all good. The interior compartment is good. I have reglued some of the original liner back into the case.
