ANTIQUE VICTORIAN WEDGWOOD BLUE MYTHOLOGICAL CHERUB PIN
Product description
ANTIQUE VICTORIAN WEDGWOOD BLUE MYTHOLOGICAL CHERUB PIN Offered here is an antique Blue Jasper ware brooch from the Victorian era.
This mysterious piece is most likely by Wedgwood, and depicts an infant cherub holding on to a branch. I’m not sure what the mythological significance of this piece is, but would venture to guess that it is either Isis’ son Horus or perhaps Baby Moses.
Please note that the bas relief is much more fine than the photos indicate; the camera focused on the frame and blurred out the center a bit.
Circular panel is set in a delicate looped filigree Sterling Silver frame.
Marked “Sterling” at backside. Because the backside is closed, we could not see a Wedgwood mark. Older “c” type clasp confirms age.
Measures approximately 1" in diameter and 3/16" thick.
Item is in very good condition with just one loop of filigree slightly bent out of line. QUESTIONS? PLEASE CONTACT US 856-854-6346
