Have some little, but growing, seedlings, so may as well see if anyone is interested in this lovely 'native' vine.
Most people are aware of the very popular cultivated Lady Di Pandorea vine. This is NOT that, but the NATIVE 'Wonga Wonga' or 'Bower' Vine, to some people. Being keen on growing 'native' plants, and looking for something to cover a couple of dead Ironbarks, I was surprised to come across this magnificent flowering vine on my place. A single one. No others in the area I have found. The first main photo is of it in full bloom last June. To digress slightly, I am told that seedlings, like what I have here, flower in their second year. Others have said they know of flowering in the first season, but time will tell. I just think that these are at a stage where they now need to be put into their positions, so they have plenty time to settle, and get going. Not only is the vine a stunningly beautiful flower, but the leaves are very attractive. It will grow to a few metres, clambering up trees, over sheds, fences, and even simply as a ground cover.
I have a few as, - not knowing anything about the genus, I threw in pods of seeds, and had at least 98% germination success! If only it were to happen with everything else!
Postage of course is the killer. Not only is it soooo expensive - due to, in my opinion, having to ensure the plants are securely packed to avoid damage or worse. It is NOT a sales pitch😣😂🤹♂️, but of course, more than one purchase means only one postal cost.
And!!! Can NOT BY LAW, post to Western Australia, Tasmania or the Northern Territory. Quarantine regulations. I no longer consider International, as so many places especially the USA, Canada and New Zealand wisely prohibit importation of ANY PLANT MATERIAL. If you are outwith Australia, may I suggest you check with your local Authorities.
Always happy to try and answer queries.
