Product Description

The function of the snorkel is to increase the wading depth of the vehicle. Before the snorkel is installed, the theoretical wading height of our vehicle is above the wheels, below the engine compartment, and the air intake system is empty. The filter is basically between these two positions, as long as the water is not higher than the intake position, it can theoretically pass. When your off-road vehicle is equipped with a wading hose, regardless of the buoyancy of the water, your theoretical wading height comes to the "roof" position. However, the actual road conditions are much more complicated than the "theoretical". In extreme road conditions, careful driving is still the criterion.

Under what circumstances is there a need to install a snorkel? My personal understanding is that you are in an area where rainy weather often occurs and you can encounter deep stagnant water, or you are an off-road enthusiast, and your car will encounter such things as crossing a river during the crossing process. In similar road conditions, a snorkel needs to be installed to ensure the wading performance.

The snorkel, that is, the high-level air intake, sounds very "high-tech", but it is actually the simplest modification. Cut off the original air intake pipe of the vehicle, and lead out a new pipe from the air filter position: generally, holes should be drilled from the fenders on both sides of the front of the car, and the plastic ventilation pipes should be drawn out from the holes and run along the A-pillar on one side of the vehicle to the roof. Add a filter on top for first stage filtration, or add a sand cup to keep sand out, it's that simple - the sequence is cut, punch, install, that's it.

The above modification can greatly improve the wading ability of the vehicle, because the air intake is already in the position of the roof, as long as the car is not used as a submarine, the engine will no t be destroyed by water. But this kind of modification has also caused many novice car owners to seriously destroy the car, because the assembly of the vehicle is not only afraid of water, but the engine! There are many objects in the engine compartment that are afraid of water. ECU computer board, the battery needs to be replaced if it is soaked in water and short-circuited. The relationship between the circuit position and water of the fuse box, transmission, braking system, etc. should not need to be explained. The transmission has ventilation holes in order to achieve constant internal and external pressure. Although the brake pump has a waterproof and dustproof cover, who can guarantee that water will not enter when driving in water? Therefore, if you want to improve the wading ability of the vehicle, the installation of the snorkel is actually the last step, and the waterproof protection of the above assembly is the most important.

Snorkel are high air intakes that prevent the engine air intake from flooding when the car is wading through water. If water enters the air intake of the car when wading, the engine will stall because it cannot take in air, making the car unable to continue driving. Many professional hardcore off-road vehicles have snorkel.

As long as the exhaust gas keeps coming out of the tailpipe, the water doesn't get in. Before wading, be sure to get out of the car to check the water depth. We must not blindly wading in the water, this is very dangerous. Many SUV manufacturers will announce some maximum wading depths. Don't just look at these maximum wading depths. This is only the theoretical maximum depth.
