Know Your ChampagneThe Champagne region is one of the most exciting today, with a bevy of small producers creating flavours giving a greater expression of style and place.A prime focus - and a personal passion - are the members of an elite group of grower-producers known as the 'Club Trésors de Champagne' or 'Special Club', which was founded in 1971. Currently consisting of 28 producers, all member wines undergo a rigorous selection before release and are the pinnacle of what they can produce. To become a 'Special Club' release requires the absolute best and is a guarantee of excellence. There are good Champagnes... There are great Champagnes... And then there is the Special Club. Find out more here Product Details Rosé is the fastest growing category of all the Champagne styles. Its surge in popularity is probably due to its versatility to match many different cuisines. There are two methods for producing rosé styles; maceration/skin contact or blending. Skin contact or the saignée method (saignée means ‘to bleed’; hence the term ‘sanguine’) is the same as for red wine production whereby the juice is kept in contact with skins until the desired colour is reached. Once achieved, the juice is run off and production continues as per white champagnes. This method is much more labour intensive and not as common as the blending method. Blending is usually by the addition of still red wine (normally about 10-15%). Of course this red wine component must have been produced in Champagne. This method of adding red wine to white to achieve a Rosé wine is unique to Champagne and strictly forbidden anywhere else. This wine is called ‘Coteaux Champenois’ and it is very rarely made available by Champagne producers for retail. DescriptionCan't decide? What possible reason could there be to limit ourselves? Enjoy with a knowing smile! What David has to say...Salmon 100% Meunier Rosé NV The base wine is a blend of 2009 and 2010, and the colour is achieved by the addition of 15% red wine from the same vintages. In the glass it has a fresh, vibrant pink colour with hints of orange. The nose shows candied red fruits, cherries and redcurrants. The palate, giving bags of black and red fruits, possesses a soft and creamy mouthfeel with a lick of savoury spice on the finish.Roland Champion Brut Rosé NV A surprising cuvée as their Rosé accounts for only 5% of their production. Whilst this is definitely a Chardonnay-focused house, this particular blend is a mixture of 70% Pinot Meunier, 20% Pinot Noir and 10% Chardonnay. The copper, pale orange colour is achieved by the addition of barrel aged still Pinot Meunier wine. The black fruits have given a spicy, savoury edge with pronounced notes of raspberries and strawberries, yet the wine still maintains a fine minerality as modelled in their other cuvées.Nominé-Renard Brut Rosé NV A high proportion of Chardonnay gives the Brut Rosé sensuality and elegance. Vanilla crème brûlée and intense red fruit aromas hint at what’s to come; a further hint of cherry and fresh grapefruit, followed by a subtle velvety mouthful. This is a gorgeous Rosé and one worth spoiling yourself with! The base wine is from 2011 and is a blend of 45% Chardonnay, 45% Pinot Meunier and 10% Pinot Noir.José Michel Rosé NV Its vibrant pink-red colour is due to the maceration method and the blend of 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Pinot Meunier. Showing bright, generous red fruit characters, this is the perfect summer partner. Possessing a generous mouthfeel of raspberries, red fruits and spice, it’s a Rosé that will appeal to all.Forget-Chemin Carte Rosé Brut Premier Cru NV This is essentially the Carte Noire blend (40% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir and 20% Pinot Meunier) with the addition of 20% still Pinot Noir from Ludes. Reddish pink in colour, the nose shows glace cherries and candied red fruits. The palate is lovely and fresh with more red currant, cherry and raspberry notes. Pristine and clean, this is a delightfully refreshing rosé style.Duménil Rose Vieilles Vignes Premier Cru NV This is a unique Rosé Champagne combining fruitiness and elegance using an equal blend of all three varieties. The colour is achieved by the addition of 7% red wine from old Meunier vines planted in 1956, aged in oak. Only the first pressing is used with the base wine coming from 2011 and the addition of 50% reserve wines. These reserves allow the wine to achieve its very high quality consistently every year. The average age of the wines is a commendable 30 years and all from Premier Crus.$395 normally – Special 6-pack offer – Just $330Additional InformationVintageNVRegionChampagneAlcohol Vol12 - 14%Volume750mLCase Size6 Bottles PaymentIf paying by bank deposit, please leave your ebay username in the description so that your payment may be readily identified.
