Late 1940s or early 1950s Alfred Meakin U.K, Sandwich Set
This stylish bone china sandwich set is so much of its time. White glaze base on which is fabulous pattern of squiggly lines and dots, contrasting with a bouquet of leaves in red, grey black and mustard.
The pattern of the plates date it to the early 1950s, and the shapes to the late 1940s - with touch of Art Deco "Moderne" about the stepped tab handle
There are 5 side plates approx 15cm in diameter and the main plate is 26cm wide x 19.5cm. 1.08kg before packing.
In excellent vintage condition. No stains, no cracks or chips. Some of the plates have a very faint patch of light unstained crazing - but this is negligible.
A great retro set to use or for a collector of mid century designs.
All fragile items from this store are packed with appropriate care to a professional standard, in appropriate boxes, using expanded cornstarch "peanuts" (which are compostable/biodegradable or re-usable) and where appropriate extra padding with foam.
