Seller: bottle_shock (7) 100%, Location: Bronte, Ships to: AU, Item: 162293729570 2014 SALO CHARDONNAY (6 PACK) 230.00 2014 SALO CHARDONNAY The 2014 Chardonnay was grown by Simon Harte at the high altitude Full Moon Vineyard in Gladysdale. Soils are red basalt clay loams, Chardonnay clone is Bernard selection 96. The 2014 season was a concentrated year, with very low yields, but overall a quality of a very high standard. We experienced above average rainfall throughout the winter and spring months. This was great to replenish the dams and keep the soils at full moisture capacity going into summer. The consequence of the cool wet weather during flowering in 2013 meant that both berries and bunches set were very small and intense. In December, the sun came out with very stable mild conditions throughout the summer ripening period and a stable weather pattern settled on the Yarra Valley through February. Large healthy canopies and low crops meant that vintage kicked off early. We had a fantastic run of lovely mild weather throughout January and February. One significant rain event in early February meant that ripening extended out and we hand picked with fantastic ripeness and acidity on the 4th March. That’s the hard bit done…the winemaking was very simple. Whole bunch pressed to 500 L Puncheons and our 700 L Foudre. No additions, Wild yeast. No Malo Settled and racked to tank for a short chill in December. Bottled on the 28th January, 2015.
